a Spring Band & Guitar Concert
Please join us for a "Landmark" performance by our award winning Bands and Guitar Ensemble. During the concert you can participate in our annual silent auction. This is a fun way to support the Band and leave with one of our awesome auction items. The Wind Orchestra will also be premiering a brand new composition entitled "Where the Night Ends". This work was written by LaBelle's Band Director, Alex Burden, and is based on the short poem “Where the Night Ends”, which he wrote during his second battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
"Where the Night Ends"
The body is a quiet house where shadows start to grow,
A cold and heavy winter wind that smothers out the glow.
The silence sits inside the chest, a weight we cannot move,
With nothing left to lean upon and nothing left to prove.
We wait within the hollow dark, a long and lonely sleep,
While secrets of the rising sun are promises we keep.
But even in the deepest black, a tiny crack appears,
A thin and steady line of light that washes out the fears.
The heavy door is pushed aside, the morning enters in,
To touch the tired spirit and the pale and weary skin.
The night is finally over now, the darkness is undone,
As we step out from the shadows and we stand within the sun.
