Please join us for The Sound of Music, presented by Lower School Drama on the main stage of the Harriett Coleman Center for the Arts. The show opened on Broadway in 1959, starring Mary Martin as Maria von Trapp. The musical is closely based on the true-life story of Maria Kutschera, a young woman who was in the process of becoming a nun at Nonnberg Abbey in Salzburg, Austria. Her life was forever changed when she was sent to become a governess to the seven children of a widowed navy Captain, the Baron Georg von Trapp.
