The Chain of Lakes Dramateers Present

Join the Chain of Lakes Dramateers as they present Shakespeare's classic comedy of romance and mistaken identity in its original Elizabethan text!

When Hermia's mother demands she marries Demetrius instead of her beloved Lysander, the pair run into the woods to elope. Following them to return them to Athens are Demetrius and Helena, Hermia's best friend who is in love with Demetrius. Meanwhile, at the same time, Oberon and Titania, king and queen of the fairies are quarreling in the wood, while a band of amature actors prepare a play to perform at the wedding celebration of Duke Theseus and Hippolyta. The magic of midsummer's night affects them all, aided by the mischievous sprite, Puck.

This performance is Chain of Lakes' offering as part of the Jr. Thespian One Act Festival. Students will perform this show in front of 900 fellow middle school theatre students and a panel of adjudicators on Friday, November 15, 2024. Limits are placed on technical elements as part of the event and student designers must work within those creative constraints. One of the technical constraints is no body mics for this performance. Those who may have difficulty hearing are encouraged to purchase a seat closer to the stage.

To preserve the cadence and rhyme of the classic text, one instance of the term "ass" for "donkey" was left in the script for a single speech spoken at the end of the play.
