Scenes from a Tuesday in September
Book & Playwright: Melaney Douglass
Music & Lyrics: Skip Stadtman
Scenes from a Tuesday in September is a poignant, vignette-driven play that honors the quiet courage, grief, and resilience of everyday people caught in the events of September 11, 2001. Based on real events, the play weaves together true-to-life moments: a FDNY chaplain offering comfort to a dying firefighter in the darkness of the towers; a schoolgirl whose presentation on "Girl Courage" mirrors her tragic fate aboard Flight 77; a father sharing a final story with his infant daughter from Flight 93; loved ones gathering at a NYC wall of missing poster photos searching for hope; and a young soldier departing for deployment while holding fast to his family's love. Crafted by playwright Melaney Douglass with music and lyrics by Skip Stadtman, the show culminates in a reflective musical time jump to honor and remember those who were lost.
